Dilemma for Me

Ok, so I am in a dilemma. I thought I could pull off going to two concerts in 2 days, without feeling the slightest bit of guilt that i have a psch And physics test the next thurs. Not gonna happen. so now i need to choose between the 2. and it is going to be one of the hardest decisions of my life (c'mon, for me, deciding what to eat for dinner falls into this category too). So, the first concert is on a friday and it is Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, w/ the Duke Spirit and Les Aus (i don't know the openers, but at least its only 2 bands) at the Abbey Pub, $12, an 18+ show (thank god, keep out the teeny-boppers!) I saw TL/RX in November and had an awesome time, but basically this awesome time was had only during their set, since the Metro used to allow smoking indoors so i smelled and breathed shit all evening, and none of the opening bands were that good. But as i said before, there's only 2 opening bands this time, and I am pretty sure that new smoking ban has come into effect (woo-hoo chicago legislature!!), so shouldn't be too painful. And ted's music, oh, ted's music. All I can say is that it could not possibly be more fun to see him live and sing and bop along. Here's an mp3 of theirs (i posted this before, sorry, but i don't have my computer w/ me to publish a new mp3) : Timorous Me. Ok the 2nd concert is the next day, Saturday, and it is for a band I have posted about before also, May or May Not. It's at the Beat Kitchen, $8, all ages (ewwww), but this time MOMN, i think? are one of the openers, and Hanalei is the main act cuz it's their record release show. and there are two other low-fi bands. I haven't seen any of these bands before, and I really only know the music of MOMN, and they don't have that many songs out. But a record-release show sounds interesting to me. This show sounds pretty darn appealing too. MOMN is so freakin catchy-riffic I could die. Here's the mp3 i posted before (again, don't have my own computer!) : Gotta Get Outta Here. Ok these don't work anymore I don't know why. shit. please just google the bands. thanks! I don't know what to do!! So I would like you all to help me decide by taking a poll:

Friday Night Live for Me

So I kept starting a bunch of different posts cuz I guess I had a burst of creativity... or multiple blasts of procrastination. But the first one of these posts I am going to actually post is about Friday Night Live (cuz I don't really want to have to remember how crappy this week was.) Cheesy name, for a pretty cheesy program the school runs once a month. It has a theme, games, prizes, movies, music (karaoke), free food etc. It's just about the only thing this school does for us, but students are the ones who run it anyway, sheesh. So last Friday I was getting antsy studying for physics (insert vomit), and decided I wanted to go, so I asked my roomie to come with me. So we took the bus down to where they had FNL at. This Friday's theme was...Pirates. I think pirates are definitely cool, though I don't exactly condone their lifestyles. Hygiene people!(though I have been known to skip showers while studying for tests, if I'm studying at some other part of campus and not my apt. yes, it is a big deal and it is that disgusting for me to skip one shower). So here are some pics w/ captions:

This is the free booty we got, a spy-glass and eye-patch. We were so excited about having eye-patches, that when we returned to our apt. building, we wore them on the way in. I couldn't stop giggling, but honestly, what normal person does this? And it really really sucks to use only one eye. We disorientedly got into the elevator, and an older kid (well, older than me) got in after us, and he just started cracking up. He made that like stifled snorting laugh noise. He's like "You guys have a good time tonight?" and we nodded and he's like "It looks like it. I don't even know what the fuck you guys got into tonight" hehe. Sorry, no time to rotate it. Besides, I'm sure you all need to work out some kinks in your necks. This is a dandy messenger bag I won, after my roomie and I played a round of Scene-It Warner Bros. edition against 2 other teams, and we got 1st place. It was hard for me, cause a ton of the questions were about shows on before or around the time I was born. But my roomie was able to answer those oldie questions. I answered a couple also, and I swear to god wendela, 2 of my answers had to do w/ the OC. ha! These are some pirates flags I,um,found (took). I hung them up in my room, though my ma may not like it when she sees it. I'll just argue that I'm pre-med and need to be reminded of the skeletal structure in my everyday life. This is the flag I made at the crafts area. They also had sailboats to paint, but we didn't have time to wait around. My roomie made one w/ her name, I made one w/ my blogger name, just so I could show it to you guys. Unfortunately, this flag is the extent of my artistic ability. How depressing. The star is there cuz I needed filler. The cupcake cuz I love them (I made strawberry ones w/ buttercream frosting in January, and they were actually good) and also cuz of those cupcakes in Lazy Sunday. Cheesy-riffic. These are my caricatures, by the same caricaturist, now on my closet. The top one I had done last semester. I think it is more accurate than the bottom, esp. the eyes and eyebrows. But I like the background of the beach in the bottom, new one. He did this b/c I had two leis (green and white) on, to match my TL/RX shirt. I love the beach. More on this and vacationing some other time. I could def. use a vacation.

Ok got to go sleep cuz I am going to skip class so that I can volunteer at the museum. The things I am forced to do, I tell ya...Sorry there's no recommendations this post, other than to become a pirate cuz then you'll get cool FREE stuff like I did.

Amazing for Me

So something truly amazing happened during what has been one of the shittiest points of this school year. I am smack dab in the middle of a 3-week period when I have a test every Thurs, plus assorted quizzes, homeworks, volunteerism etc... I have freaked out in class the last 2 days (as I wrote about before), and cursed up a storm. I came back to my room today in the foulest of moods. But I knew that my fave hour of comedy was on today, plus the Lonely Island boys were going to start doing podcasts, tonight! so i took a long nap (accidentally), took a shower, made dinner while watching my two hilarious shows (office, earl-seriously funny stuff. if you don't think this is funny, which seems to be the case with everyone I know, you probably won't get me either, which also seems to be the case with everyone I know, correlation anyone?) Then it came time for the podcast. I had sent in an e-mail yesterday, with some questions on them. The podcast started but my mom called and kept on talking! so i missed what exactly they said in the beggining, which was some important stuff apparently. so then the Dudes and Chez started cracking jokes and answering some e-mails. then they gave out their phone number! i dialed it sooo freakin fast. And guess what??? I was the first caller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was sooo surprised that I was shaking and so nervous and I like couldn't even answer them correctly and they thought my name was Rachel, which it is Not. LOL. but its good, I can deny saying anything stupid. They asked how I liked the show, and I said I did like it except when Chester ran away. So i asked a cheesy question like: "chester, if u were on a deserted like "lonely island" um which one of the lonely islanders, like which one of the Dudes would u take with you? you can only choose one." of course i said this will plenty of "ums" and "likes" in between, cuz I was so freakin nervous. By this time I had signaled my roomie to come listen to me on the online radio, which was slightly delayed. I was too nervous to listen to my voice (it was definitely higher than usual, which I hate). So Chester said something in response, like listing qualities of each of the Dudes, I was so nervous I'm not sure who he picked. So i was like thanks bye!!" and they all said something like "that was pretty good for our 1st question". So I had hung up. Then I proceeded to freak the fuck out, which includes loud shrieking and jumping up and down and onto the bed. And dizziness, slight nausea. Then they took more callers and e-mails and then they revealed their mystery guest, who was KAL PENN!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok one of my roomies and I Are Harold and Kumar. Ok so i don't do pot, but we fit the ethnicities, and have outfits that are like the boys' in the movie, and i'm pre-med. Moreso, I liked Kal Penn before H & K, which i thought was a funny movie, though not so much my fave of all time. Anyway, he was in a movie called American Desi, and That by far is my favorite movies about Indians. By Far. It's the only one that's halfway decent and I can slightly relate to. Not any of those other ABCD crap movies. So I knew who Kal was back in the day. So when I learned that he was there the whole time, I again freaked the fuck out, and this time my other roomie screamed along with me. We both freaked out. I, lowly Suchie, had spoken not only with the most awesomest coolest comedy troupe ever, I also talked in front of my male counterpart! holy shit!!!!!!! then after we calmed down, they had taken some more calls. and went back to e-mails. Lo and Behold, who's e-mail do they read??? MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had asked: "Do you (chez) and the dudes prefer burritos or tacos?" then later in the letter i threatened chez to be funny cuz I missed out on a Demetri Martin show, cause I wanted to listen to the podcast, well that and that it costs $20." They read this on air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they laughed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then they answered almost all burritos, except kal and jonah (another friend) said tacos. ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But then Jorma did a rap about burritos!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was soooo freakin hilarious, about Baja Fresh, which I know it like a west coast thing more than midwest, but so cool nonetheless. Can you believe he did a rap about something I, lowly Suchie, asked about????????!!!!!!! i tried to call in a few more times, but the line was busy. i didn't have any more questions, I just wanted to let Kal know that there are real Harold and Kumars out there, even if we have different genitalia and don't smoke pot. But it was ok, I had spent plenty of time with my boys and could ask for naught more. One of the most exciting things I have ever had the pleasure (and dizziness, nausea) of doing. There are going to be more podcasts, and I will be more prepared those times, hopefully i can get on to at least one more, without sounding stupid. if anyone has come up with funny questions I can ask the Dudes, please let me know! i still cannot believe it!!!!!!! But you know what, how would I ever prove that I got to talk to them and that they answered my questions? I hope that they post the podcast as an mp3, which is what most podcasters do, right? like can't you download the file as an mp3 and then transfer onto your player? that's what I did once with a Rajiv Satyal podcast about chicago. it worked. ahhh i don't know anything. but i will be so sad if I can't get a copy of the podcast, to show future generations. hehe.it seems my endless promotion of the LI has finally come to some fruition for me.

Repetition for Me

So... I wanted to see how many posts I could start w/ "so". Anyway, I am writing a paper for my psch class, and i wanted to look up a word that could replace "concerns" in the phrase "social concerns." So I typed in "feelings," but that sounded weird, so I decided to use the thesaurus to change out the word "feeling." One of the resulting definitions was "manual-genital stimulation." That is just wrong. You know what I wonder about? Do people talk out loud to themselves the way I do? I don't have conversations, mind you, but I'll often say phrases out loud like "Oh no, I don't believe it!" or "I am sooo evil", and many others. I am usually the only one in the room when I do this. Is it normal? why not? I'm don't use it to fill up a silent void, I use music for that. And I am not talking to imaginary people when I do so, just myself. hmm. I was wondering, because I don't really hear other people make exclamations like this when they are the only ones in a room. ok back to the paper. Today: Ok paper's done. so is my first orgo 2 test. pretty darn sure i bombed it. and it's only gonna get harder. shit on a stick. oh well i had some cold stone to ease the pain. it was good, better than the usual crap I do (or don't) eat, but overpriced and probably overrated. So i got a volunteering job at this cool museum in Chicago. I don't how specific bloggers are supposed to be. I'll tell ya its not a huge museum or anything super-famous. It small and unique and that's what I like about the place. It takes me quite awhile to get there, the biggest downside. Ok, though I would throw some classics, some retro, music out there. Now keep in mind, this was really only 1994 or 5. But I was in second grade people! These songs take me back, let me reminisce about the days when I played more than I studied. Damn you, childhood, for leaving so quickly. Kids my age (young adults, if you will. But if we're talking about maturity level...) can't wait to grow up, to stat drinking, gambling, blah blah. I could care less about growing up, since there's no age limit on anything I want to do (except some concerts, that're 21 and over. damn them. but if I am patient, and the band is good, chances are they'll come back here when i am 21. also there's limits on entering contests, mostly age 18,score, but trips are for 21 and up but who cares?) Back to the topic I was on: Artist: The Gin Blossoms Song: Follow You Down P.S. Mon: So that used to be a link to one of those sites that publish your videos and audio etc, but they took it off for some vague reason. probably copyright. which I didn't really get cuz you can only listen to the song on that site. you can't download it. it's just a link. but whatever, i'm getting tired of them so i'm just gonna have to link you guys to either videos or mp3s on the artist's page or on yahoo music and the like. links are perfectly legal, i know this much. just click on whatever stuff i recommended, from now on.sorry for the inconvenience!
